New development of 14 flats and a large commercial premises in a typical corner of Barcelona’s Eixample district, at the junction of Carrer Sardenya and Carrer Consell de Cent.

The geometric uniqueness of the plot is what determined the main decisions of the project. Almost as a remnant, the triangular-shaped site had a large façade facing the street. The most characteristic element of the building is the double skin formed by ceramic slats that act as solar protection, as well as providing a certain intimacy to the use of the terraces.

The building has been designed according to sustainability and energy saving parameters, which has led to a good energy rating, both in terms of emissions and consumption.
The building’s thermal envelope was designed with a ventilated façade system facing the street and an external thermal insulation system (SATE) on the interior façade and courtyard. Thermal insulation has been reinforced by incorporating high-performance carpentry with thermal break and low-emissivity glass, which reduces energy loss to a minimum and minimises the energy consumption of the dwellings.
